Northern Roots Weekend

Every summer from 2010-2017, eager participants gathered for our Northern Roots Weekend held just outside Brattleboro, Vermont. The Northern Roots Weekend featured a series of intensive teaching workshops in traditional music for all instruments, with a focus on fiddle, flute, whistle, guitar, and song. Some experience in traditional music was required.

Becky Tracy and Keith Murphy teamed up with guest instructors to offer a variety of workshops in repertoire and technique; intensive ensemble opportunities; pub and campfire style singing; formal and informal jam sessions; evening soirees where all enjoyed playing, singing, and dancing; and outstanding meals in a lovely country setting (with swimming).

Below you’ll find tunes that were taught at this memorable camp. Many have become local favorites and have made their way into the common repertoire.
